Should I select Basic or Premium? If you only have W-2(s) and interest income, you can use the Basic filing. You can start out with the Basic package and if the program determines that you need to file additional forms, it will prompt you to upgrade to Premium. Do I qualify for electronic filing? You probably do qualify unless you: 1. Do not currently live in the United States 2. Earned income from a state in which you do not live. CompleteTax does not support multi-state returns 3. Want to e-file your state but not your federal return in Arkansas or Oklahoma 4. Want to file Married Filing Separately and live in a community property state 5. File Married Filing Jointly AND only one spouse had earned income AND you claim the Child Care Credit (all three) 6. Received a waiver from the IRS Even if you do not qualify, you can still use the program to prepare your return. The instructions will prompt you to print out the return so that it can be mailed. Do I have to complete and file my return at once? No. Once you start the return, you can log out and come back to finish it at any time. In fact, it is recommended that before submitting it for e-filing, print the return and review it. Take your time! It is better to look at it a couple of times to make sure you haven't forgotten something than to amend it later (although you can amend the return here as well). How do I check the status after I've submitted my return? Login to your account. The My Account Dashboard page has a link "E-File Status" Where is my AGI (Adjusted Gross Income) from last year? Form 1040 -- Line 37 or 38 Form 1040A -- Line 21 or 22 Form 1040EZ -- Line 4 Use the numbers as originally sent to the IRS. Do not adjust for any IRS corrections or amended returns. The IRS may be able to help you at 1-800-829-1040 if they can verify your identity. If you cannot get this information and you don't have an electronic filing PIN from last year, you will not be able to file electronically this year. How soon can I have my refund? If you filed a complete and accurate return you can expect to get your refund: Within 2 weeks after the acknowledgment date if you filed electronically, and you elected to receive your refund by Direct Deposit. Within 4 weeks after the acknowledgment date, if you filed electronically, and you elected to receive your refund by mail. Within 6 weeks from the date the IRS receives your mailed return. Check the status of your refund by calling the IRS at 1-800-829-4477 and select the refund status option on the TeleTax system. What are the computer system requirements for filing online? Can I use your program if I am in the military with an APO address? Yes. The program will prompt you for your official state of residence. Can I use your service if I don't have an email address? No. We will send important status information to your email address. You can get a free email address from Google, Hotmail, Yahoo and many other online services. Why have I not received emails from you? Our emails may be ending up in your Spam or Junk folders or your email server is filtering out our responses.
